- <H2> H.O.P.E. Center for Learning H - Holistic O - Orton-Gillingham P - Personalized E - EducationAt H.O.P.E. Center for Learning we recognize that students with dyslexia and other reading and writing challenges learn in a different way. At H.O.P.E. Center for Learning, we don't see it as a disability but as a different-ability. Research states dyslexic students use all of their senses when they learn. This includes, visual, auditory, tactile (hands-on), and kinesthetic (movement). At H.O.P.E. Center for Learning we use an Orton-Gillingham, holistic approach that involves teaching to all of the senses. The International Dyslexia Association recommends a multi-sensory structured language program. For some students reading and writing can be very difficult and can cause a great source of anxiety. Therefore they require direct and sequential instruction. In fact 30% of all children require direct instruction and research states that all children could benefit from it!At H.O.P.E. Center for Learning each child is given a personalized multi-sensory lesson plan customized to meet his or her specific needs. We also understand that self esteem and self advocacy are essential. Each lesson provides personal coaching and strategies to help empower these students. Living with dyslexia and other reading and writing challenges can be overwhelming for children and their families. It is important to know there is hope. Come join one of our monthly support groups for both parents and students! What is Dyslexia?About 1 in 5 students have dyslexia in the classroom. It is a term that involves difficulty in learning to read or interpret words, letters and other symbols, but it does not affect intelligence. Whether your child has been diagnosed with dyslexia or is a struggling reader or writer, H.O.P.E.
